Esuola Daniel's Setup

Software Engineer & AI Automation Lagos, Nigeria11 May 2026

Behind the desk I'm Esuola Daniel, also known online as Danielafriheart. I'm a software engineer with taste. Not the loud kind. The intentional kind. I live at the intersection of product, design, and leverage. I care about how something feels just as much as whether it works. If it doesn't convert, it doesn't count. I move fast, but not sloppily. I like concise messages, clean interfaces, and ideas that scale past one person, one client, one win. Behind the scenes, I'm iterating like a mad scientist with a Notion doc and a deadline, and I also happen to call myself a multidisciplinary creative. My team at Provolo (provolo.org) and I are building an AI assistant designed for freelancers and creatives, helping you optimise your profile, nail your proposals, and get hired faster. We're live with an MVP, over 6,500+ signups, and an even better version in the works. "It has taken me three years to get my desk to this point, and it reminds me of how far I have come in this journey of becoming.

How I move through the day

My day starts around 9am, but the first things I reach for aren't my devices. I pray, meditate, journal, drink water, and get a few push-ups in before I ever sit down at the desk. ~9:00 am Morning rituals, prayer, meditation, journaling, movement, breakfast. ~10:00 am Desk time begins. Check X, Slack, and emails. Studio Sesh playlist goes on. ~10:30 am Review to-dos, check my calendar, share feedback with the team. Mid-morning 2–3 hour focus block. Timer set. Deep work only. Throughout Breaks built in. Total desk time: 7–9 hours with intentional rest.

I've been working remotely for about five years, so when the pandemic hit, it didn't change much. What I've learned: establishing a routine helps, but leaving the house often is just as essential. Touch grass. Connect with like-minded creatives. Plan things to look forward to.

"I also start my day standing at my desk, planning the day, organising my schedule, and listening to my Studio Sesh playlist I curated myself."

💡 Tips from Esuola Daniel

## What I'd tell anyone starting from scratch 01 Start with the most critical part of your workflow. Don't buy peripherals before you have a great desk and chair. 02 Sort your cable management early. It shapes how the whole setup feels, not just how it looks. 03 04 Invest in lighting. I use Alexa to set different lighting scenes based on my mood and energy levels. Get photochromic glasses and a monitor light bar. Your eyes will thank you after long sessions. 05 Invest in a good bed. Sleep is what keeps you sharp. Blackout curtains + red light mode at night. 06 Keep everything in its place. A clean desk at the end of each day sets the tone for the next morning.
